Let's just start with Florence, OK? It has art for days and days. Take your time with it. Spend an hour in front of the Birth of Venus. Admire the David from every angle. Or just look over the Arno for a spell. You could spend years here.
Where to start? Hilltop towns? They got dozens that run up and down the tourist scale, all with their own charm. Wineries? Chianti and Vernacchio are local. Major sights? Sure, Pisa is right there, Siena, too, and make some room for charming Lucca. And the Cinque Terra is a short drive away.
Even better: head to Bill & John's, and spend a lazy week being spoiled by lavish breakfasts. For dinner, the pizzeria Tres Tigli, right up the road, will feed you perfectly, and well. In between enjoy the lush and colorful gardens.
Really, you don't have to connect with anything: two weeks here will fly by. But if you must: Venice and Rome are nearby, and Switzerland not too far.
